Miracle: Metatarsal pads. I am running again.
5.3 miles and 2700 feet up and down on gel pads, and 5.2 on fabric pads. It does look like I was building a blister in the last couple miles. Will go with gel. Discomfort is manageable as long as the terrain is not too technical. Takes more concentration to avoid any rock on the metatarsal area, and requires slower descents on technical terrain. Additional mental pressure. Seem to have lost a couple of bpm of cardio during the stoppage...
Will try a long run on Saturday. Hope is alive.

Jorge you are inspiring. You are learning and putting so much to practice. All I ever did in marathon training was train (speed, tempo, hills, distance), eat smart, hydrate right, and eat a few PowerBar gels, bananas and orange pieces on the day. I know nothing about sodium absorption, etc. I'm learning as I read your posts. Great news on your metatarsal! You will be good to go. Hope is Alive!
Thank you Kevin,
Never imagined I would have to learn all these details - turned out to be the only path to 50M. The biggest lesson for me was that in long races like that one you can't replace what you lose - you can only minimize the loss. If you try to replace, your systems become overwhelmed (or at least mine)
